The Client Brief

A 1970s architecturally designed home desperately in need of a kitchen renovation. Our clients wanted a custom kitchen design that would complement the homes’ unique architectural features. The brief included a modern look, understated elegance and a more open plan kitchen that allowed easy access to adjacent living/dining areas. 

The Challenge

This 70s style home comprised of obtuse angles. The existing kitchen was closed off from the remaining living areas by surrounding walls, and its current layout was not functional.

The Design Solution

With the removal of key walls that divided the kitchen from adjacent living rooms, together with a more modern layout, the new kitchen design has provided greater functionality, storage and an open flow between living areas. The introduction of an breakfast bench created a space for casual dining as well as more room for food preparation.

The Result

A modern and functional kitchen renovation in keeping with this beautiful character filled 1970s home. The new kitchen layout has meant that Geoff and his family can work in their kitchen and still feel a part of the home, with adjacent living and dining areas now seamlessly surrounding their newly renovated kitchen. The increased kitchen floor space has also created more room for movement and flow of traffic in and out of the kitchen.
